SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS CONVICTION IN 30-YEAR-OLD DOWRY DEATH CASE

Case Name: Damodar & Anr. Versus The State of Uttar Pradesh

In a 30 year old dowry death case, SC noted that the husband who escaped without getting a single injury in the same room where wife died due to burn injuries, failed to explain the circumstances. So the apex court upheld the conviction under section 113B of Indian Evidence Act.

SUPREME COURT TO CONSIDER CASHLESS TREATMENT FOR ROAD ACCIDENT VICTIMS

Case Name: S Rajaseekaran v. Union of India and Ors.

As per the recent update raised after the road safety plea,the Supreme Court is set to consider the cashless treatment of road accident victims along with online transfer of compensation by General Insurance Corporation of India. The matter will be heard on August 27.

SUPREME COURT QUASHES CHARGES IN KARNATAKA EMTA COAL MINES CORRUPTION CASE

Case Name: M/S. Karnataka EMTA Coal Mines Limited And Another v. Central Bureau of Investigation

The Supreme Court quashed charges against Karnataka EMTA Coal Mines Ltd in a corruption case, stating that the prosecution relied solely on a CAG report that had not been scrutinized by Parliament. The Court emphasized the misuse of the CAG report and the lack of proper sanction for prosecution.
