SUPREME COURT BACKS GREATER REPRESENTATION OF WOMEN IN JUDICIARY

Case Name: Pinky Meena vs. The High Court of Judicature for Rajasthan at Jodhpur & Anr., SLP(C) No. 23529/2023

The Supreme Court reinstated a female ST judicial officer, criticizing her dismissal for non-disclosure of past employment. Emphasizing gender diversity in the judiciary, the Court stated that more women in judicial roles enhances decision-making quality and furthers gender equality across society.

SATYAPAL MALIK CHARGESHEETED IN Rs 2,200 CRORE CORRUPTION CASE

Issue: CBI vs. Satyapal Malik & Ors. (Pending Investigation & Chargesheet Filed)

On the same day CBI filed a chargesheet against ex-J&K Governor Satyapal Malik over the Kiru Hydropower Project scam, Malik shared a hospital photo citing poor health. The charges involve alleged corruption in contract awarding and violations of e-tender norms.

SC SLAMS NAVY FOR DENYING PERMANENT COMMISSION TO WOMAN OFFICER

Case Name: Seema Chaudhary vs. Union of India (JAG Branch Officer PC Dispute)

The Supreme Court reprimanded the Indian Navy for not granting Permanent Commission to Seema Chaudhary, a 2007 JAG branch SSC officer. Despite past directives, the Court noted the Navy’s disregard and warned against allowing gender bias and ego to override merit and judicial directions.
