Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved Apologize to Supreme Court for Misleading Ads
Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved’s MD, Acharya Balkrishna, apologized to the Supreme Court for misleading ads claiming their Coronil drug cured COVID-19. The court had warned of a Rs 1 crore fine for non-compliance. They apologized for post-injunction ads and a 2023 press conference. Uttarakhand assured strict action against Patanjali. The Ministry of Ayush noted Coronil as a supportive measure for COVID-19, urging withdrawal of other misleading ads. The court was hearing a petition by the Indian Medical Association alleging Patanjali’s ads disparaged allopathy and made false claims, violating laws.

The Supreme Court clarified it will hear a plea on verifying Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) data against VVPAT records on April 16. The petition, pursued by the Association for Democratic Reforms, seeks 100% verification. Justice Sanjiv Khanna indicated the matter will be listed higher on the next Tuesday’s list.

Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child

Objective: Support the postgraduate education of single girl children and promote small family norms.
- Scholarship Amount: ₹36,200/- p.a. for the full duration of a PG course.
- Eligibility: Girl students admitted in the first year of PG courses in designated universities or colleges and the only girl child in the family.
- Application: Apply online on the National Scholarship Portal after the application process begins and notice is published on the UGC website.
- Number of Scholarships: 3,000 fresh scholarships awarded annually on DBT mode.
