Overview
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 was first introduced in Lok Sabha in August 2024, seeking to amend the Waqf Act, 1995. The Bill was sent to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) which submitted its report in February 2025. The legislation focuses on redefining Waqf property regulations, ownership needs and administrative control.

- Renaming the Act : The Bill proposes renaming the law to the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act, 1995.
