GARNISHEE ORDER

by | Feb 23, 2024

Garnishee order: Legal order issued by a court that allows a creditor to collect money owed by a debtor directly from a third party who owes money to the debtor. This third party, often referred to as the “garnishee,” could be an employer, a bank, or any entity that owes money to the debtor. The order essentially redirects funds from the garnishee to the creditor to satisfy the debt owed by the debtor. (Order 21 rule 46 of Civil Procedure Code)
