Meaning-The tort of wrongfully holding goods that belong to someone else.

Detinue – From the Latin verb “detinere”, meaning “to hold back” or “to detain.

Interpretation-Refers to the wrongful act of retaining or refusing to return someone else’s property or goods.

ExampleIf Z  lends X  their almirahs and tables for a party, but X doesn’t return them on time, Z can sue X for detinue.
