INDIA SUSPENDS INDUS WATERS TREATY, SHUTS ATTARI BORDER AMID PAHALGAM TERROR ATTACK FALLOUT

Fact: Cabinet Committee on Security on abeyance of Indus Water Treaty

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack killing 26, India suspends the Indus Waters Treaty and SAARC Visa Exemption for Pakistanis. The Attari-Wagah border is sealed, defence staff withdrawn, and High Commission personnel slashed. The move signals strong diplomatic retaliation against cross-border terrorism.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack killing 26 people, the participation of Pakistan’s javelin star Arshad Nadeem in the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru now hangs in uncertainty. Though personally invited by Neeraj Chopra, the Indian government’s stance post-attack could heavily influence any official decision regarding Arshad’s entry into India.

ASSAM PROFESSOR ESCAPES PAHALGAM TERROR BY RECITING KALMA

Fact: Pahalgam Terror Attack Survival Incident

Assam University professor Debasish Bhattacharya narrowly survived a terror attack in Pahalgam by reciting the Islamic ‘Kalma’. Disguising himself among local Muslims, he escaped fatal targeting. The Assam government, in coordination with central authorities, is ensuring the family’s safe return after the horrifying ordeal in Jammu and Kashmir.
