JOURNALIST CHALLENGES 10-DAY REMAND IN GST FRAUD CASE
Case: Maheshdan Prabhudan Langa v State of Gujarat and Anr.
Recently Senior Assistant Editor and Journalist of The Hindu Mahesh Langa, moved to Gujarat High Court against 10day remand in GST fraud case. Journalist’s advocate argued that his involvement is still not proven while the high court mentioned about the Gravity of the offence to which advocates mentioned SC’s saying that its not about gravity but about remand. Next hearing is scheduled on the 14th of October.

IAS COACHING INSTITUTE FINED FOR MISLEADING ADVERTISEMENTS
Case: Satyata v IAS Gurukul
In a recent case, the Delhi Consumer Dispute Commission ruled IAS coaching institute to refund student’s fees and also mentioned retaining full fee before completion of the promise was unjust. The issue was unfair trade practice and making false advertisements. The institute was held guilty of the false claims in advertisements so the commission ordered to refund the ₹62,363 to a student and pay ₹15,000 as compensation for mental harassment.

KERALA HC REQUIRES DISCLOSURE OF ACCUSED’S LOCATION IN ANTICIPATORY BAIL PLEAS
Case: Suo Motu v State of Kerala & Ors
The Kerala High Court ruled that accused persons must disclose whether they are in India or abroad when filing anticipatory bail applications. Non-disclosure would amount to suppression of material facts, which could impact the imposition of bail conditions and law enforcement.
