Jus in personam- It means “right against a specific person” in English. It refers to a legal right that one person has against another specific individual, as opposed to a right against the world at large.

  • Jus :- right or law
  • Personam :- person

 

Example A person taking legal action to collect a debt owed to them by another individual is an example of “Jus in personam.” It’s a legal right against that specific person for the debt.
