 Functus officio-It means “having performed his or her office” in English. In a legal context, it refers to a situation where a person or authority has completed their official duties or responsibilities in a particular matter, and they no longer have jurisdiction or authority over it. 

  • Functus :- having performed or having discharged
  • Officio :- office or duty

Example:-After a judge issues a final verdict in a trial, they are “functus officio” and cannot change their decision unless it goes through the appeal process.
