In a landmark address delivered at Grey’s Inn, London, CJI BR Gavai reflected on the empowering framework of the Indian Constitution laid down by Dr BR Ambedkar . Speaking on “The Living Document: 75 Years of the Constitution of India and the Enduring Relevance of Dr Ambedkar,” he shared his personal journey from a humble background to becoming the Chief Justice of India crediting it entirely to Ambedkar’s constitutional vision.

He proudly remarked that –  Today India has constitutional heads—including the President, Prime Minister and CJI—who come from marginalised backgrounds, demonstrating the progress made in achieving social justice .
