DEFENDANT

Defendant : Person defending a court action which has been taken against them.  

DEFENSE

Defense : The legal strategies, arguments, or actions used by a defendant (the accused party) to respond to and counter the claims or charges made by the plaintiff or the prosecution in a legal proceeding.

DEFAULT

Default : Failing to do something which had been agreed to. (Section 167 of Criminal Procedure Code)

DEFAMATION

Defamation : The act of making false statements about someone that harms their reputation.Defamation can take the form of spoken words (slander) or written statements (libel). (Section 499 of Indian Penal Code)

DEED

Deed : A legal document that serves as evidence of ownership, rights, or obligations related to real property (land and buildings) or personal property. Deeds are used to transfer or convey property from one party to another. (Section 27 of Stamp Act)

DECREE

Decree : An order by a court. (Section 2(2) of Civil Procedure Code)
