Delegatus Non Potest Delegare – It means one to whom power is delegated cannot himself further delegate that power or no delegated power can further be delegated.

  • delegatus :-authorised person
  • non potest :-having no authority or power
  • delegare :-commit to another or entrust

Example :- An auditor who has been appointed to audit the accounts of a company cannot delegate the work to another unless expressly allowed to do so. If express authorization has not been granted the auditor will have acted ultra vires.
