Arvind Kejriwal Challenges Arrest in Supreme Court

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s Chief Minister, has petitioned the Supreme Court against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. Kejriwal argues that his arrest, amid the 2024 election cycle, sets a dangerous precedent for targeting opposition leaders. He claims his arrest is based on contradictory statements from co-accused turned approvers, known to the ED for months. Kejriwal asserts that the ED’s actions are politically motivated and violate his rights, impacting India’s electoral democracy. He urges the court to release him to participate in the elections.

The court emphasized the importance of disclosing financial status in such cases and highlighted the need for documentary evidence to support claims.
